Mishka Hoosen

Mishka Hoosen is a writer, editor, and researcher based in Cape Town, South Africa. She is a graduate of the MA in Creative Writing program at Rhodes University. She is the author of the chapbook, Road Trip with James Dean (Flomotion, 2011), and Call it a difficult night (Deep South Books, 2015). Her work has appeared in Catapult, New Coin, The Ploughshares Blog, The Missing Slate, and more. After apprenticing as a perfumer for a year, she is currently working on a novel about perfume, folklore, and queerness.

At its heart, her work is characterized by an intuitional faith in the truth of the senses, the truth of beings and things, of nature and matter. She is dedicated to the principle of wonder... She does the work we writers are called to: she writes to query, to pay careful attention
