Mishka Hoosen

Mishka Hoosen is a writer, editor, and researcher based in Cape Town, South Africa. They are a graduate of the MA in Creative Writing program at Rhodes University. They are the author of the chapbook, Road Trip with James Dean (Flomotion, 2011), and Call it a difficult night (Deep South Books, 2015). Their work has appeared in Catapult, New Coin, The Ploughshares Blog, The Missing Slate, and more. After apprenticing as a perfumer for a year, they are currently working on a novel about perfume, folklore, and queerness.

At its heart, their work is characterised by an intuitional faith in the truth of the senses, the truth of beings and things, of nature and matter. They are dedicated to the principle of wonder... They do the work we writers are called to: they write to query, to pay careful attention
